The commitment and dedication of community volunteers assists Council in the governance of the City and makes Abbotsford a community where people choose to live, work and play.
Appointments are made by City Council every two years, or as vacancies arise. Terms of appointments are two years to a maximum of six consecutive years on any one committee, unless otherwise resolved by Council.

Committee Descriptions
The Abbotsford Airport Authority (AAA) oversees the management and operation of the Abbotsford International Airport for, and on behalf of, the City. The Authority strives to secure air transportation services for the Fraser Valley; develops Airport lands for aerospace or other aviation-related industry or complimentary commercial venture that conforms to the Airport’s Master Plan; and operates and develops the Airport to enhance the economic objectives of the City.
The purpose of the Agriculture Advisory Committee is to advise City Council on agricultural issues. The Agricultural Advisory Committee will be a liaison and communication channel between the agricultural community and City Council, and will provide a forum where agriculture related issues can be discussed with other agencies, committees and interest groups.
The purpose of the Awards and Recognition Advisory Committee is to review nominations and provide recommendations of the annual recipient of the Order of Abbotsford to Council, and to provide recommendations to Council for nominations for the Order of British Colombia and British Columbia Achievement Award.
The purpose of the Business, Innovation and Public Affairs Advisory Committee is to be a liaison and communication channel between the community and City Council, particularly in areas including government relations, legislative affairs, economic development and innovation.
The purpose of the Community, Culture and Environment Advisory Committee is to maintain an effective channel of communication between the community and Council, particularly in the areas of culture, recreation, environment and green strategies.
The purpose of the Development, Transportation and Infrastructure Advisory Committee is to maintain an effective channel of communication between Council and the community on issues related to land use, transportation, infrastructure, heritage (as it relates to development), bylaw and policy development and master plans and strategies.
The Joint Shared Services Committee is comprised of appointed Council members of both the City of Abbotsford and District of Mission (three members each) and act on behalf of both communities with respect to the following jointly owned services: a) Joint Water Systems (JWS); b) Joint Sewer Systems (JSS); c) Joint Transit System (JTS); and d) Abbotsford Mission Recycling Depot (AMRD).
