Transit

Notice to transit users

Starting on March 20, and until further notice, transit service will be suspended and buses won't be running in Abbotsford, (excluding essential transport via handyDART to renal dialysis, cancer treatment and multiple sclerosis appointments in Abbotsford and Mission) due to a transit strike. Please arrange for alternate transportation during this time.

As BC Transit, and local government partners in the Fraser Valley region are not the employers, they must respect the collective bargaining process and therefore not interfere with, or influence in any way, the negotiation being conducted between employees and their private-sector employer – First Transit. The City of Abbotsford is encouraging both parties to bring a resolution to this issue immediately as it is adversely affecting our residents that have no other affordable options.

For details, please see the announcement from BC Transit.

Public Transit

Public transit helps promote the reduction of single occupancy vehicle trips and minimize the need for expensive infrastructure while connecting our residential areas, parks, and shopping and employment areas.

The City of Abbotsford’s goal is to create a transit-friendly community that:

  • provides a viable transportation alternative for all residents
  • supports population and local employment growth
  • maintains and improves the City’s work/live ratio
  • shapes growth according to the City’s Official Community Plan (OCP)
  • reduces community-wide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions

Central Fraser Valley Transit System

The Central Fraser Valley (CFV) Transit System serves Abbotsford and Mission areas with connections to Aldergrove, Chilliwack, Langley and the West Coast Express. Visit BC Transit’s website for Rider Info, Schedules & Maps, and Fares.
