Sumas Mountain Forest Service Road (FSR) Access

Sumas Mountain Forest Service Road (FSR), like other FSRs across British Columbia, is the responsibility of the Ministry of Forests.  At the start of this road is a gate that is a provincial asset, managed by the Province’s Forest District Manager. The gate is currently in a locked-open position and remains so under their direction.  The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) and the City of Abbotsford are not responsible for the gate. If you have concerns about access to Sumas Mountain FSR or surrounding Crown lands, please contact FrontCounter BC:

The City of Abbotsford has approximately 660 hectares of natural lands and open space, which include forests, shrublands, meadows, wetlands and riparian corridors throughout the community.

These areas provide opportunities for residents to enjoy their neighbourhoods as “nature intended” as well as providing ecological connections and critical habitat for numerous species of local wildlife.
