Apply to be a Lifeguard and Aquatic Instructor
As the successful candidate, you will ensure a safe and enjoyable leisure experience for patrons while performing lifeguarding and instructional activities. Your training and keen eye for detail will allow you to actively respond to emergency situations by performing rescue functions and providing assistance to patrons in need. Your strong communication and relationship building skills will be essential as you provide instruction in a variety of aquatic and related programs. In addition, you will conduct regular inspections of rescue and emergency equipment, monitor pool chemistry as required and perform assigned janitorial and maintenance tasks as required.
To be considered for this position you must have the following certifications:
National Lifeguard (Pool Option)
CPR Level C with AED - (within 1 year as per NL requirement)
*All certifications must be current and copies must be submitted with your online application in order to be considered for the position. Re-certifications that are completed during the recruitment and selection process must be uploaded to the online portal for your application to remain in competition. During employment, it is the responsibility of the employee to ensure certifications are valid at all times.

Swim for Life Instructor

have Bronze Cross certification.
Prepares candidates to teach and evaluate swimming skills in the Society’s Swim for Life and Canadian Swim Patrol programs.
Emphasizes effective teaching techniques, stroke development, lesson planning, and class management.
Minimum of 40 hours of instruction, 8 hours of practical co-teaching experience.
Requires 100% attendance and participation
Certification, valid for two years. Certified instructors are then qualified to teach all levels of the Swim for Life program.
Lifesaving Instructor (optional)
15 yrs by the end of course
have Bronze Cross certification.
Prepare candidates to teach and evaluate the Society’s Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion, and Bronze Cross awards.
Focuses on effective teaching methods, stroke development, lesson planning, and class management.
Minimum of 36 hours of instruction,
100% attendance and participation.
Successful candidates receive Lifesaving Instructor certification, valid for two years, and are eligible to teach all levels of the Lifesaving Society’s programs
