November 5, 2025 - Take Your Kids to Work Day
Mayor Siemens met with staff members’ children to talk about his role as Mayor and how municipal governments work. He also took them onstage at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium where City Council meetings are held.
October 25, 2025 - Engineer Park opening
Three-year-old Isabella helped Mayor Siemens and Councillor Loewen cut the ribbon by sliding through it at the official opening of Engineer Park in West Abbotsford. Councillors Barkman, Chahal, Driessen and Gibson also attended the event.

Mayor Siemens met with Jed Simpson and the Rapid Relief Team of Canada at City Hall to thank them for their contribution at the second annual Fraser Valley Recovery Day, where they served more than 800 hamburgers to attendees throughout the day.

Council attended the opening ceremony for the 116th annual Agrifair, greeted competitors in the 4-H barn, visited the Pioneer Tea for Agrifair trivia, and stopped by the midway.

Clearbrook Iron Works owner and general manager Paul Unger led Mayor Siemens and Councillors Ross, Driessen and Loewen on a facility tour as part of the Business Spotlight Series.
July 20, 2025 - Sikh Heritage Museum exhibition opening
Councillors Chahal and Ross at the opening of the new year-long exhibit at the Sikh Heritage Museum at Gur Sikh Temple on prolific BC photographer Chandra Bodalia and the history of gurdwaras in BC. On behalf of the City, Councillor Ross thanked the Bodalia family for gifting their father’s vast collection to UFV and spoke about the importance of preserving this historical record.

Mayor Siemens congratulated the Canucks organization on their historic win while on stage at Abbotsford Centre. Councillors Chahal, Driessen and Sidhu were also there to cheer on the new AHL champions.

Mayor Siemens helped present the awards, spoke to the students about the valuable skills karate teaches, watched some demonstrations and received an honourary black belt.

Councillor Sidhu and his family took part in the 1k walk along with Councillor Chahal at this year's Run for Abbotsford supporting the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation.

Mayor Siemens gave a presentation on the past, present and future of Abbotsford and took questions from the audience as part of the Abbotsford Recreation Centre’s 55+ Learning Plus program. Members of the City’s Planning team were also there to discuss the Abbotsforward 2050 Official Community Plan update.

May 25, 2025 - Run For Water
Mayor Siemens and Councillor Warkentin finished neck-and-neck, and Councillor Gibson also ran, in this year’s Run for Water. Afterwards the Mayor gave greetings from the City and helped award prizes to the top finishers.

Councillor Driessen joined FVRD staff on a tour of Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Aldergrove, led by respected knowledge keeper Sonny McHalsie, to deepen their understanding of Indigenous culture, history and perspectives within the region.

Councillor Ross attended the Lower Mainland Local Government Association conference and participated in a panel discussion about communicating effectively with residents and highlighted the City’s Your Council in the Community program.
April 28, 2025 - National Day of Mourning
A memorial was held outside City Hall for the National Day of Mourning honouring workers injured or killed on the job. Mayor Siemens emceed the ceremony, which recognized the 146 workers in BC who lost their lives due to workplace incidents in 2024. The event also included speakers who shared stories about the importance of workplace safety.

Mayor Siemens met with Abbotsford veteran Gwen Settle to congratulate her on her investiture into the Order of St. George in recognition of her contributions to society and commitment to service. The Centre for Epilepsy and Seizure Education in BC’s Epilepsy in Full Colour Art Exhibition, featuring works by people affected by epilepsy from across BC, opened at Kariton Art Gallery.
