Steep Slope Development Permit

If the proponent provides satisfactory information to the City that clearly demonstrates that the proposed development will not be in conflict with the development permit guidelines, the proposed development could request exemption from the Steep Slope Development Permit.

If required, A Geotechnical Assessment Report must determine appropriate setbacks from the top or bottom of slope, and address the potential for natural hazards that may occur on the subject site, adjacent areas or other potentially affected properties. It should also analyze and assess the impact of the proposed development on or by the natural hazard, and provide any required mitigation measures.

The report must refer to the specific development proposed and have attached to it a figure indicating the footprint of the proposed development in relation to existing structures and site features. An 'Appendix D: Landslide Assessment Assurance Statement' must also accompany the report.

Development must comply with the City’s Erosion and Sediment Control Bylaw. For the Steep Slope Development Permit, an Erosion and Sediment Control Plan must be submitted for the clearing and grading phase of construction.
