Order of Abbotsford

The Order of Abbotsford is the highest form of recognition the City can extend to its residents. The Order of Abbotsford is bestowed upon individuals who have brought distinction to themselves or the City through outstanding achievements or who have demonstrated a particularly high level of contribution to the City over their lifetime. Nominations

Nominations for the Order of Abbotsford are accepted year-round.

Nomination Package

Eligibility - Nominees must:
  • Be a current resident of Abbotsford or a former long-term resident (10+ years)
  • Be an individual (not an organization)
  • Have demonstrated outstanding achievement or significant lifetime contribution to the City
Ineligibility - The following are not eligible:
  • Current City or Abbotsford Police Department employees
  • Current members of Council
  • Current elected federal, provincial, or municipal representatives

Individuals may become eligible four years after leaving these positions.

Process:
  • Nominations must be submitted using the official nomination form
  • The completed nomination package can be submitted to cityclerk@abbotsford.ca
  • All nominations are reviewed by the City Clerk for eligibility
  • Eligible nominations remain under consideration for up to two (2) years
  • Council considers eligible nominations annually

Selection Process

Council reviews all eligible nominations and determines the recipient of the Order of Abbotsford.

Awards Ceremony

Recipients of the Order of Abbotsford may be recognized during a Council Meeting and/or at a formal event.
