As City Council, there’s no denying that we love Abbotsford. It’s our home. It’s the place where we run our businesses, raise our families and take pride in the community we serve. Our community has been growing rapidly over the last decade, and with that growth comes new challenges, including rising demands for local services and labour shortages across a wide range of sectors. We see this in everything from part-time entry-level roles to skilled trades and professional positions. Earlier this year Mayor Siemens met with the local health care leaders to discuss the shortage of physicians in our community and how to attract more to work in the region. While we may not be able to target specific recruitment efforts, we can champion our city and highlight all that Abbotsford has to offer. By showcasing our lifestyle, opportunities and community spirit, we hope to inspire young professionals to make Abbotsford their next best move.
To that end we are excited to launch Discover Abbotsford, our new online hub designed to give future residents and professionals an authentic look at life here, including the supports, services and opportunities for those considering a move to our community.
