Abbotsford is the Cultural and Economic Hub of the Fraser Valley, and this year we’re kicking off one of British Columbia’s biggest cultural celebrations.
The 2025 edition of BC Culture Days is taking place from Sept. 19 to Oct. 12, and on Sept. 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. we’re hosting the 2025 BC Culture Days Provincial Kickoff Event at the Reach Gallery Museum. Throughout the day there will be free live music, cultural performances, exhibit tours, interactive family-friendly activities and more.
BC Culture Days is a provincewide celebration of arts, culture and heritage. Here in Abbotsford there are 37 Culture Days events and activities planned between the City and other cultural partners in the community, an increase over the 23 events we had last year. These include artist-led workshops, participatory cultural presentations and live performances.
The City of Abbotsford has been participating in Culture Days since 2013 and we’re proud to have been selected to launch this year’s program. We were given this honour in recognition of our growing success in cultural programming and strong commitment to community engagement, as well as for capturing the community spirit of Culture Days through our diverse and inclusive arts and culture programming.
In addition to our celebrated Culture Days programming, the City has demonstrated a commitment to diversity and inclusion though arts, culture and heritage programing with our Culture City program series. Since 2024 the City has been offering free, interactive, all-ages arts and culture programming and events throughout the year where participants can learn more about the rich and diverse cultures and communities that make up Abbotsford.
Abbotsford is one of the most multicultural cities in Canada and as a City Council we view our diversity as one of our greatest strengths. BC Culture Days is a great way for us to highlight the many rich and diverse cultures that call our community home by showcasing local talent, culture and creativity.
With so much planned for this year, we’re bound to have something for everyone. We recommend residents and guests visit the City of Abbotsford’s BC Culture Days page for more information, including a full list of events and activities.
By giving people the opportunity to experience and learn from different cultures through arts, culture and heritage programming, we’re doing our part to encourage dialogue, promote understanding, strengthen connections, and build complete communities across BC.
