Serving on a Committee
Thank you for your interest in serving the City of Abbotsford through participation on a City Committee. The commitment and dedication of community volunteers assists Council in the governance of the City and makes Abbotsford a community where people choose to live, work and play.
- Applicants must not be employees of the City of Abbotsford.
- Applicants must live in the City of Abbotsford.
- Applicants should be able to serve for the full term of the appointment.
Time requirements vary among the Committees. Most Committees, however, meet once a month in the day or evening for two or three hours. Some Committees may meet less frequently. Generally, Committees do not meet in July, August or December.
These are volunteer positions and successful candidates serve without remuneration.

Appointments are made by City Council every two years, or as vacancies arise. Terms of appointments are two years to a maximum of six consecutive years on any one committee, unless otherwise resolved by Council.
Note: Copies of all applications will be made available to City of Abbotsford Council, City staff and any other applicable agencies, for the sole purpose of making appointments to Committees, and communicating with the Committees.
