Abbotsford’s July 1 Canada Day celebration is one of the City’s biggest events, with festivities planned from morning until night.

11 a.m. City Parade

At 11 a.m. our Canada Day celebrations begin with a parade down South Fraser Way – from Bourquin Crescent West to Trethewey Street, then north on Trethewey to Mouat Drive.

Remember to vote for your favourite parade float by visiting the City of Abbotsford’s social media channels during the day. Mayor Siemens will present prizes for the top floats, including an award for People’s Choice. He’ll also celebrate the winner of this year’s Canada Day T-Shirt Design Contest, Abbotsford Senior Secondary Grade 10 student Zakariyya Jaunbocus.

1 p.m. Canada Day Festivities at Exhibition Park

After the parade, festivities continue at Exhibition Park starting at 1 p.m. The theme of the event is “Roots and Rhythm” and once again we’re proud to feature plenty of food, activities and entertainment for all ages.

This year’s activities include:

  • Hayrides
  • Sports Zone
  • S.T.E.M. Zone
  • Go Play Outside
  • RAD Torque Play Zone
  • Unitech Slides
  • Dogwood Pacesetters Agility Dog Shows
  • And more!

Vendors from the Greater Vancouver Food Truck Festival will have a variety of food and drinks for sale, and homemade and homegrown goods will be available at the Mango Marketplace until 7 p.m.

A diverse lineup of cultural performances will offer entertainment on the Main Stage into the evening, culminating with 2026 BC Country Music Award-winning artist JoJo Mason.

And at 10 p.m., if the weather cooperates, we’ll be capping off Canada Day with another fantastic fireworks display.

Even More Celebrations

If you’re looking for even more Canada Day Parade action (plus food), be sure to enjoy the Mt. Lehman Community Association’s parade and pancake breakfast starting at 8 a.m. on July 1 at the Mt. Lehman Community Hall.

And summer fun doesn’t stop there. Canada Day is the kickoff to summer festival season in Abbotsford. On July 11 Berry Fest returns to the Historic Downtown, the 117th Agrifair comes to Exhibition Park from July 31 to Aug. 2, and the Abbotsford International Airshow touches down at Abbotsford International Airport from Aug. 7 to 9.

While we have some major community festivities to look forward to, there are also plenty of smaller events happening throughout the summer. Visit goabbotsford.ca to see what else is going on in our community. Abbotsford is the cultural and economic hub of the Fraser Valley, and you never have to go far to find fun activities and entertainment.

As a City Council we love events that bring our community together, and although there will be many of those on the calendar this summer, nothing quite compares to Canada Day. While we all have our differences, Canada Day is the day we celebrate the one thing we all have in common, and that’s our country. So, as we all visit with friends and family on our nation’s birthday, let’s also take a moment to reflect on how fortunate we are to live in this peaceful, free and beautiful land.

We wish you all a happy Canada Day!
