You are invited to attend “The KAIROS Blanket Exercise” – the Indigenous History most people were never taught! This interactive learning experience teaches Indigenous-Canadian history as a step toward reconciliation. Participants take on the roles of Indigenous peoples, standing on blankets that represent the land. We walk through pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization and resilience. There is a debrief session for participants to discuss the experience.
*Please bring a small blanket or throw that people can stand on.
**Please bring or wear socks.
***We hope to end at 11am, but the debrief for this event may take longer, depending on how many attendees we have. Please plan accordingly, and try to stay until we finish, if at all possible.
Facilitated by Bridget Findlay, MCC BC Indigenous Neighbours Program Coordinator
