June 18, 2026 - Abbotsford Hospice and Grief Support Society Scholarship Awards Ceremony
Mayor Siemens with Abbotsford Hospice and Grief Support Society CEO Andrea Critchley at the organization’s second annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony. Mayor Siemens greeted the attendees and congratulated the 39 scholarship recipients. Councillor Chahal (not pictured) was also present.

Mayor Siemens dropped by the Abbotsford Recreation Centre’s 55+ Learning Plus program to give a presentation on the different levels of government and take questions from the attendees.
June 13, 2026 - 861 Silverfox Cadets annual ceremonial review
Mayor Siemens participated in the reviewing party at the 861 Silverfox Cadets’ annual ceremonial review, where he also presented an award and spoke about the value of the Cadets program. Councillor Driessen (not pictured) was also in attendance.

May 26, 2026 - Climate Action Award presentation
Recreation Facilities Association of BC (RFABC) president Jay Young and Scott Stewart from Polar Engineering presented Mayor Siemens and City staff with the 2026 RFABC-Polar Engineering Climate Action Award for the Abbotsford Recreation Centre’s heat recovery and optimization (HeRO) project.
May 24, 2026 - Run for Water
Mayor Siemens ran in the 10K at this year’s Run for Water, while Councillors Gibson and Loewen (not pictured) ran the 5K and cheered from the sidelines, respectively. Afterwards the Mayor thanked attendees for participating and helped present the awards to the top finishers.
May 23, 2026 - West Railway Plaza opening
Deputy Mayor Loewen was joined by Councillors Barkman, Driessen, Gibson and members of the community as he and Abbotsford Downtown Business Association executive director Ryan Leonhard cut the ceremonial ribbon to officially open West Railway Plaza in downtown Abbotsford.

UFV students were at City Hall to present creative solutions to local issues at the 17th CityStudio Hubbub. Mayor Siemens was one of the judges and announced this event’s big winners, “Nightmare on Every Street,” who took home both the Team Award and People’s Choice Award for their project on pest management in local cemeteries.

Abbotsford-trained gymnast Zachary Clay qualified to compete for Team Canada at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. A celebration was held at his home club, Twisters Gymnastics, and Councillor Loewen was there to congratulate him on behalf of the City.

More than 7,000 volunteers helped us run our City programs and events in 2023. A Volunteer Appreciation Night was held in their honour and Councillor Driessen spoke about the importance of getting involved in your community.
