Westridge Park

Project Type: Parks & Trails
Project Status: Current
Project Description

The City of Abbotsford is building a new neighbourhood park in the Townline neighbourhood to serve the needs of the local area. The future park space consists of about 1.1 ha of relatively flat, undeveloped open space, and is located in the middle of a multi-family neighbourhood and next to Townline Hill Park.

The new park will feature a combined playspace with a water feature, paved accessible pathways, and gravel trails that connect directly to Townline Hill Park, creating a seamless extended park experience. Key amenities will include a community shelter, a Japanese heritage garden (thirdparty funded), shade trees, picnic tables, benches, drinking fountains, and general landscaping. This new park will complement Townline Hill Park while adding new gathering spaces, cultural features, and improved accessibility.

The physical characteristics of the new park site and the existing local context provide a great opportunity to program the new park in ways that take advantage of the viewscapes while complementing the surrounding park and trail infrastructure.

Public consultation sessions were held in early 2024 as well as Fall 2024.
