Project Description

As part of the Mill Lake Master Plan, we are upgrading and widening the Lake Loop trail to make it safer and more accessible for everyone.

Project Includes:
  • Widening and repaving the main pathway in Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4
  • Installing underground electrical and bases for future trail lighting
  • Adding pavement markings to separate pedestrian and cyclist lanes

Updates

The Mill Lake Pathway Widening Project is nearing completion and continues to advance the goals of the Mill Lake Master Plan. The project has widened and resurfaced key sections of the Lake Loop pathway, improving accessibility, safety, and the overall user experience. Underground electrical infrastructure and lighting bases have been installed as part of the pathway improvements.

Current Status

  • Pathway widening and resurfacing work for these phases have been completed.
  • Underground electrical infrastructure and lighting bases have been installed.
  • New pathway lighting is scheduled to be installed by the end of September 2026.
  • Additional benches are being installed to replace benches that were removed during construction activities.
  • Additional landscape improvements, including topsoil placement, grading, and seeding, are planned for fall and winter 2026 to further enhance the park environment and restore disturbed areas.

Next Steps

The final phase of work includes installation and commissioning of pathway lighting, completion of bench replacements, and landscape restoration activities. These improvements will support a safer, more accessible, and more enjoyable experience for park users year-round.
 

  • Receive poles and fixtures (expected November)
  • Install lighting infrastructure
  • Complete testing and commissioning
  • Activate lights (anticipated mid-December)
