Marshall Creek Fish Habitat Enhancements: Invasive Plant Removal and Riparian Planting Area

The Ministry of Transportation and Transit, with support  from Sumas First Nation (Semá:th) and the City of Abbotsford, is enhancing fish habitat along three areas of Marshall Creek following the completion of Highway 11 widening work.

Initial reed canary grass and blackberry removal east of the community garden will be completed in summer 2025, followed by fish habitat enhancement works which will be completed in fall 2025.

Activities at Delair Park will take place from August to October 2025. The picnic shelter, playground, mini baseball diamond and the trail behind the sports field will be closed from August 18th to mid-September 2025.

Effectiveness monitoring and plant maintenance will occur throughout 2025 to 2030.
