City-wide Off-Road Trail Strategy

Bulletins

The City of Abbotsford is beginning the development of a comprehensive, long-term City-wide Off-Road Trail Strategy to help guide the future of its trail network.

The public will be invited to share feedback through an online interactive map available on Let’s Talk Abbotsford from July 27 to September 30, as well as through two public open houses and several roving pop-ups in parks and on trails between August 10-20.

The resulting strategy will establish a shared vision for creating a more connected, accessible and sustainable system of off-road trails that meets the needs of residents and visitors. It will enhance recreation opportunities, improve access to nature, increase accessibility, promote geographic equity and strengthen connections between neighbourhoods, parks, and key destinations.

The strategy will also support environmental education and stewardship, encourage active transportation, and contribute to healthier, more vibrant communities and an improved quality of life for current and future residents.

This work is part of a four-stage process starting with background research before moving to exploring options, drafting the strategy and finalizing the strategy. The final strategy is expected to be complete in fall of 2027.
