To help fans catch the puck drop for Sunday’s men’s Gold Medal hockey game, licensed establishments in Abbotsford will be allowed to open early and serve liquor starting at 5:00 am.
On Friday, February 20, 2026, the Government of British Columbia announced that, in recognition of the Gold Medal game, licensed premises across the province may open and provide liquor service as early as 5:00 am.
Consistent with this announcement, the City of Abbotsford will permit eligible licensees to extend liquor service hours on Sunday, February 22, 2026, beginning at 5:00 am to accommodate the game.
To support this, City Council has approved a one time adjustment to liquor service hours on February 22, 2026. This adjustment allows licensed premises in good standing within the City of Abbotsford that hold a Liquor Primary Licence, Food Primary Licence, or Special Occasion Licence issued by the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch to sell and serve liquor starting at 5:00 am, in connection with the men’s Gold Medal hockey game, and in general conformance with existing conditions under the City’s Business Licence Bylaw.
