How to Register
New registrations require a personal account with Abbotsford Parks, Recreation & Culture. Your account can be initialized in person at your local recreation centre or online at www.direct2rec.com.
- To create an account click on the Create an Account link on the login box.
- Complete all the fields on the pop up box and click on the Submit button.
- You will receive an email from communication@perfectmind.com with a password.
- Click on the link in the email and enter in the username and password provided in the email.
- From here you can reset your password and update your account with additional family members, important info and add financial information, view schedules, transactions and activity outcomes under My Profile.

Assist us in becoming more eco-friendly by adding your email to your personal account. Registration receipts can be emailed straight to your inbox, plus receive regular updates on program and Rec pass promotions including great discounts and coupons.
PRC registered programs have a five-digit barcode that you can use as reference when registering online or in a facility. Our registered programs list the facility in bold. This information will help guide you when registering.
Often some of our popular programs will fill up fast. Avoid the frustration of missing out on a great program and add your name to the waitlist. If a spot becomes available, waitlisted participants will be added to the class in sequential order. If there are enough waitlisted participants, often a new class will be added.
Direct2Rec
This program is best viewed in Google Chrome, Firefox or Safari. Direct2Rec is not supported in Internet Explorer.
Direct2Rec is our online registration portal which provides you access to browse the program guide, search for program offerings, register for programs, renew memberships or view program capacity at anytime. View the Direct2Rec guide for information on how to use our online registration.
Program Cancellations/Refunds
- To request a withdrawal from a program or course, please email Cancellation.
- Transferring registration or sessions are not permitted. If you can not make your session or course, please call or email to cancel.
- Program cancellations will be allowed until one working day prior to the start of the program. After that date, refunds will only be provided for medical reasons. A written request or a medical certificate may be required.
- There are no refunds for the senior bus trips within 30 days of the tour. Birthday party cancellations will be allowed until one week (7 days) prior to the party date.
- Membership cancellations require the completion of a written request form. Please allow 5 days for processing. Memberships on payment plans must be requested 5 days prior to your next scheduled payment date to ensure no charges for the proceeding month.
- Refunds will be pro-rated.
- A $5.00 administration fee will be charged for all cancellations. For all refunds, please allow 2 weeks for a refund cheque.
A $25 administration fee will be charged on all returned payments.
Recreation & Leisure Programs
The City of Abbotsford Subsidized Program provides full-time Abbotsford residents who experience financial barriers to participate in recreation opportunities, and who meet the necessary criteria, with admission to Abbotsford's indoor facilities (Abbotsford Recreation Center and Matsqui Recreation Center), plus a 25% discount on group swim and skate lessons, and non-specialized day camps. Skate and helmet rentals are complimentary - inquire at ARC or MRC for details.
To apply:
- Subsidy application is now available.
- Include all necessary documentation as required for proof of low-income threshold, net household/family income through Revenue Canada Notice of Assessments, Goods and Services tax (GST) Credit and BC Low Income climate Action Tax (BCLICAT) Credit Notice.
- Submit the completed application in person at Abbotsford City Hall, 3rd Floor, Parks, Recreation & Culture Office.
Subsidized Program application
The PRC Special Needs Access Program provides full-time Abbotsford residents, who have permanent disabilities as confirmed by a physician, with a 50% discount on recreation centre drop-in admissions and passes. Support workers that are required for clients that require assistance are admitted at no charge.
To apply:
- Download and complete the application form
- Include all necessary documentation as required for proof of Abbotsford residency and proof of permanent disability as confirmed by a physician.
- Submit the completed application in person at Abbotsford City Hall, 3rd Floor, Parks, Recreation & Culture Office.
Hours of Operation:
- Abbotsford Recreation Centre, Monday to Friday 6:00am – 7:00pm, Saturday to Sunday 10:00 am – 7:00 pm. Contact the facility directly at 604-853-4221.
- Matsqui Recreation Centre, Monday to Saturday 6:00 am – 8:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am - 8:00 pm. Contact the facility directly at 604-855-0500.
Please note; The Recreation Buddy program is unfortunately on hiatus due to COVID-19 limitations. Please contact the reception desk at Abbotsford Recreation Centre 604-853-4221 or Matsqui Recreation Centre 604-855-0500 to be connected to the program lead for your chosen program to discuss alternate options.
The Recreation Buddy Program is a volunteer program that seeks to provide 1:1 support to children with diverse abilities aged 3 to 12 years who may need assistance to participate in Abbotsford Parks, Recreation & Culture programs. Volunteers receive basic skills training which enables them to provide social support, redirection, clarification of instructions, assistance on focusing to complete tasks and problem solving.

- The U-Pass program provides UFV students with access to free public transportation in Abbotsford, Mission and Chilliwack, access to recreation centres (Abbotsford and Mission), and the Campus Connector.
- The SUS U-Pass provides UFV students with unlimited access to the ValleyMax transit system of Abbotsford and Mission, as well as the Chilliwack transit system. It is valid in semesterly terms: Fall, Winter, and Summer.
- Please note SUS U-Pass is not valid on the West Coast Express or with TransLink services.
- The U-Pass currently gives students access to recreation facilities in Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Mission. This includes swimming pools, ice rinks, fitness classes and weight rooms.
- U-Passes are available at the SUS Office in Abbotsford during regular office hours. Each semester, registered students must obtain a valid U-Pass to benefit from the various services provided by the U-Pass program.
For Community Organizations (sports groups, non-profits, social clubs, health and support groups, etc.) who would like to be listed in the Abbotsford Parks, Recreation & Culture Program guides, a consent to release form is required any time that you update your club contact information. Consent is required under the Freedom of Information Act, which allows us to publish your Organization name and contact information.
If you are a private trainer or therapist that wishes to use Abbotsford Parks, Recreation & Culture (PRC) facilities to work with your clients, please read and fill out the information below and bring with you to obtain an identification card.
