Go Play Outside
Abbotsford Parks, Recreation & Culture is taking the fun outside this summer! Online registration is now open for a variety of outdoor activities, including fitness, recreation and day camp programs. Also this summer, “ Pop-Ups in the Parks” are coming to various locations across the community, with free outdoor recreation, arts and culture programming for the whole family. Join us for fun in the sun as we celebrate community spirit while staying 2 metres apart!
Summer Day Camps
This summer, day camps are operating with smaller numbers and with a focus on outdoor activities. Our happy campers ages 6 years - 12 years will be able to explore, play games and participate in fun arts and crafts.

Outdoor Fitness Classes
Our fitness instructors are back with a variety of free outdoor classes geared for adults and guaranteed to get you back in shape and feeling great. All classes require pre-registration 24 hours in advance of class. Note that all classes are weather dependent and that washroom facilities will not be available. To keep everybody healthy and safe, please bring your own mat, water bottle and towel. We will not be sharing any fitness equipment.
Outdoor Sports Programs
Our Community Recreation team is hosting free drop-in sports programs all summer at the ARC and MRC sports fields.These programs are for kids 2 years - 12 years and are a great way to get them outside burning off that built-up inside energy! Outdoor Sports run Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Pre-registration is required 24 hours in advance of class. Each participant also has the chance to win a soccer ball or activity bag at each session.
Pop-Ups in the Park
The PRC Go Play Outside team are bringing recreation and culture to the great outdoors this summer! Join us 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm on the dates below as we celebrate community with a variety of organized games, activities and art opportunities. Also with us will be local artist Luke Pardy as our Go Play Outside Summer 2020 Artist in Residence (in partnership with Abbotsford Arts Council). Luke will be creating art onsite and engaging participants to find their inner muse. To keep everybody healthy and safe, all Pop-up staff have had additional training in cleaning and disinfecting following BCRPA and MIABC recommendations.

Don't forget to pick up your Culture Kit at our Pop-ups in the Park! An exciting, hands on art-making activity developed by The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford. This activity is inspired by a work of art called Cloud Cell by Chinese/Canadian artist Xiaojing Yan. Cloud Cell is made of over 13,000 freshwater pearls strung onto hundreds of clear threads and suspended in the air and is currently featured in the exhibition, Glimmers of the Radiant Real, on view this summer at The Reach Gallery Museum.

Direct2Rec - Online Registration
Visit Direct2Rec to sign up for any of these summer outdoor programs. Note that Park Pop-ups do not require pre-registration. All programming is free and extra care will be placed on physical distancing, keeping class sizes small and no sharing of equipment or toys.
Avoid the frustration of missing out on a great program and add your name to the waitlist. If a spot becomes available, waitlisted participants will be added to the class in sequential order. We will let you know as soon as your spot is available via email.
