Salton Pedestrian Bridge

The Salton Road project extends from Marshall Road to King Road and includes a pedestrian/cycle bridge over Highway 1.  This project will help improve mobility and safety for pedestrians and cyclists and will also align with the City’s strategic goal to enhance active transportation systems in the community to support walking, cycling and transit. 

Background: The project cost is estimated at $4.61M that includes a $1M grant from the Province of British Columbia’s BikeBC Program. 

Project Details:
  • A separated bike path along Salton Road, between Marshall Road and Highway 1, including a sidewalk and parking on the west side of Salton Road.
  • A pedestrian/cycle bridge over Highway 1.
  • A separated bike path along Salton Road, between Highway 1 and King Road, including a sidewalk and parking on the east side of Salton Road.

Project Completed: Construction completed in 2018, and the grand opening celebration was held in January 2019.
