Councillor MacGregor

Councillor MacGregorBill MacGregor was an active youth who enjoyed many sports. He received a full athletic scholarship, in football, to Boise State, in 1968. Following that, Bill moved closer to home to finish his undergraduate degree, with a full athletic scholarship, at Simon Fraser University.  He was a fourth round draft pick for the BC Lions in 1973. Bill earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Simon Fraser, his Master’s of Education from Western Washington University in 1979; and his Doctorate of Education degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2000.

Bill retired 4 years ago from a productive thirty-three year career in education (five in Vancouver and twenty eight in School District #34) as a teacher and administrator. Bill is looking forward to continuing to serve Abbotsford, a city he loves. During his tenure as an educator, Bill strived to teach all students that they were ALL special people regardless of physical appearance, intellect or skill.  As a result of this early philosophy he has become a vocal advocate for celebrating our cultural diversity while addressing the issues of social housing and a living wage.

Bill is married to Pam, a local small business owner and together they have six children and four grandchildren. Bill continues to work on a part time basis as an executive coach and advisor. In addition to his interest in his children’s many activities in the community, Bill enjoys walking, cycling, reading and attempting to stay fit.
