The Order of Abbotsford was established by Council on February 7, 2005, to recognize individuals who bring distinction to themselves and to the City of Abbotsford in broad areas of endeavour such as: community leadership; business; labour; industry; volunteer service; professions and other occupations; research; culture; the arts; sports; and others.
Each year, the public is invited to nominate individuals for the Order of Abbotsford. Council reviews all nominations and selects the recipients, recognizing outstanding community leaders who have been involved in community service and demonstrated a sustained commitment to the betterment of the majority of the residents of Abbotsford. As part of this recognition, one or more recipients is presented with the Citizen of the Year Award, which honours individual contributions of a citizen who has served with the greatest distinction.
Do you know an outstanding citizen? Someone who shows leadership and dedication? The City of Abbotsford is looking to honour these people.
Any person or organization may nominate a resident of Abbotsford. Applications must be received by December 31, each year. Annually, by June 30, selected recipients are honoured at a recognition ceremony, following which their names are entered into the Order of Abbotsford Merit Book.
