To volunteer for any of the following volunteer opportunities, please contact Parks, Recreation and Culture at 604-859-3134 or submit a volunteer application form.
Adopt a Park or Trail
With over 200 parks in Abbotsford, there are plenty to choose from. Twice a month, volunteers may pick up litter, assist with weeding, planting or mowing and report on vandalism and maintenance problems.
Adopt a Street
It may be where you live, work or play – there is a street out there that could use your help. Volunteers adopt a length of roadway, and keep it free of litter and other garbage by visiting the location two times per month.
Canine Canada Goose Control
To combat the population increase of Canada Geese in our parks, volunteers and well trained dogs receive a permit to act as a nuisance to keep them off the public areas.
Corporate Volunteering
Businesses can get involved giving staff the opportunity to take pride in keeping the street or areas around their offices clean. Great opportunity to do team building and beautify the community at the same time.
One Time Cleanups/ One Time Planting
Not everyone has the time available to make an ongoing commitment. A less frequent schedule or one time clean up event is still a benefit to our community.
School Participation
Many schools in the community participate annually during Pitch in Week. Consider having your school leaders and student population adopt the streets and area surrounding the school on a year round basis.
Special Events
There are a number of opportunities to volunteer for individual or group clean ups at annual community and special events such as Pitch in Week, Agrifair, Arbour Day and Canada Day.
