What is trucked liquid waste (TLW)?
Trucked liquid waste (TLW) is defined in the City of Abbotsford Sewer Rates and Regulations Bylaw as “any Waste that is collected and transported off-site by means other than Discharge to a Sanitary Sewer, including, but not limited to, septic tank Waste, Oil and Grease from Interceptors, and other Sludges of organic origin”.
Where is trucked liquid waste disposed of?
The Abbotsford/Mission Water and Sewer Commission (WSC) allow all trucked liquid waste (TLW) to be discharged at the JAMES Treatment Plant if it meets the requirements of the allowable types of discharges as outlined in the Procedure Manual for Use of the JAMES Treatment Plant Trucked Liquid Waste Facility. There are other disposal facilities located in the Lower Mainland that accept trucked liquid waste. Be sure to check with the respective municipality or regional district prior to discharging at facilities other than the JAMES Treatment Plant.
Can grease from grease interceptors be disposed of at the JAMES Treatment Plant TLW Facility?
Grease collected from restaurant grease interceptors may be disposed of at the JAMES Treatment Plant TLW Facility after it has been picked up by an authorized carrier and diluted 50% with domestic waste. Applicable disposal charges will apply.
Can I bring grease from my house to the JAMES Treatment Plant for disposal?
No. The JAMES Treatment Plant is not currently set up to accept grease from residents at this time. We suggest that the grease be composted or disposed of with your garbage.
Can I discharge waste from my recreational vehicle at the JAMES Treatment Plant TLW facility?
No. Section 18 of the City of Abbotsford Sewer Rates and Regulations Bylaw No. 1862-2009 states that all waste from recreational vehicles must be disposed of at designated sani-dump station and cannot be disposed of at the JAMES Treatment Plant TLW facility.
