Bulky Items

Some items, such as refrigerators, stoves, tires, propane tanks, drywall, and furniture, are too large or inappropriate to be included in the regular curbside collection. To limit costs to taxpayers, the City of Abbotsford no longer holds annual or semi-annual cleanup events, and residents need to make their own arrangements to deal with larger items, as required.  Most of these items can be recycled or disposed of at various locations in Abbotsford.

BC Hydro Fridge Buy-Back Campaign
In an effort to reduce energy consumption, BC Hydro will pick up and recycle your old, inefficient fridge and give you $30 for it. To qualify, fridges must be between 10 and 24 cubic feet and in working condition. BC Hydro will ensure the capture and recycling of ozone-depleting refrigerant and metal.

An inefficient fridge could be costing up to $100 per year to operate, but lowering energy-consumption not only saves money, it also helps to delay the need for new power-generating facilities.

To arrange for free pickup, of an old, but working fridge, call BC Hydro. For more information on BC Hydro's energy conservation programs, visit the BC Hydro website.
