Multi Family Residences

Apartment BuildingOwners of multi-family units are required by bylaw (Garbage and Recyclables Collection Bylaw) to make their own arrangements for garbage and recyclables collection with a private waste collection contractor.  Adequate recycling facilities must be provided as prescribed in the Bylaw.  Arrangements for multi-family complexes may vary by contract, but must include all blue bag recyclables - not just paper and cardboard. Multi-family residents are requested to either collect all recyclables in one blue bag or place them loosely in covered, central collection bins.  Recyclables must be separated from garbage as required by the ban.

There are several options for container sizes and pickup frequency. Separating recyclables from garbage will result in the need for less garbage collection. Some companies provide only garbage or recycling collection, while others provide both.
