Crime Reduction

In July 2010 Council endorsed the Crime Reduction and Community Safety Strategy that was developed by the Mayor’s Task Force on Crime Reduction.

The Strategy is being implemented through departmental work plans and Economic Development & Planning Services is the department responsible for coordinating this implementation. In February 2011, staff presented an update to Council about the implementation, which can be found here.

Many initiatives have already been successfully implemented:

• Operations Tarnish, Veritas and Lodestar by the Abbotsford Police Department
• Business Watch and Block Watch
• Good Neighbour Project by Bylaw Enforcement
• Public Art policy and community meetings by Parks, Recreation & Culture
• Affordable Housing Strategy by Planning Services
