Development Planning provides principles of customer-focused service, a proactive approach to application review, sound community planning, and well-constructed infrastructure.
The Community Planning division manages the City’s Official Community Plan (OCP), bringing together land use, environmental, transit, urban design and social planning policies, along with overall infrastructure and future land use plans. The division is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies, policies and plans that guide the City’s future growth and development, while protecting and enhancing the natural environment.
The Development Planning and Community Planning divisions work closely with other City departments, such as Engineering, Parks, Recreation & Culture, and Strategic Planning & Business Improvement. These divisions also work in partnership with provincial and federal governments and a wide range of community organizations and the public to develop the means to achieve the City’s vision of a livable, sustainable and prosperous community.
