Street Parking

Street and Traffic Bylaw No. 1536-2006
This bylaw is enforced by the Abbotsford Police and Bylaw Division, which regulates the use of City streets. The bylaw prohibits the parking or storage of any of the following vehicles on the street:

  • unlicensed vehicles;
  • unattached trailers;
  • commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight greater than 5,500 kg, including construction and farm equipment, except while engaged in loading or unloading.

It is an offence to park a vehicle:

  • on a sidewalk or boulevard;
  • within 5 metres of a fire hydrant;
  • on, or within 6 metres of, a crosswalk;
  • other than parallel with the curb;
  • longer than 72 hours (36 hours for RVs);
  • facing the flow of traffic;
  • in any lane or alleyway; or
  • on the paved portion of a roadway where the pavement is 6.1 metres or less in width.

Recreation vehicles (RVs) 6.7 metres or greater in length, cannot park on the street for more than 36 hours, after which they must be moved out of the block for at least 48 hours. RVs registered to a City of Abbotsford address, may only park adjacent the owner or operator’s place of residence or adjacent another property with the consent of its owner. No RV may be occupied as living quarters while parked on the street.
