Order of Abbotsford

About the Order of Abbotsford

The Order of Abbotsford was established by Council in 2005, to recognize outstanding individuals in our community. Individuals are recognized for their contributions and accomplishments in the areas of community leadership; business; labour; industry; volunteer service; professions and other occupations; research; culture; the arts; and sports and athletics.

The public can nominate individuals for the Order of Abbotsford.  Council reviews all nominations and selects the recipients, recognizing the outstanding citizens who have been involved in community service and demonstrated a continual commitment to the betterment of our community and quality of life.  As part of this recognition, one or more recipients may be presented with the Citizen of the Year Award, which honours the individual contributions of a citizen who has served with the greatest distinction.

Any person or organization may make a nomination for the Order of Abbotsford. All nomination applications must be received by March 31, each year.

Order of Abbotsford recipients are honoured at a recognition ceremony, held in June, and have their names entered into the Order of Abbotsford Merit Book.
