Building Inspection

Inspection Information

For your inspection to be completed and accepted without delay, please ensure you have all documents on site for the inspection. This includes the City of Abbotsford “Accepted” set of drawings, survey, engineer field reviews, etc.  Inspectors are available to answer questions over the phone or at City Hall Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:30am and 9:00am, and 4:00pm and 4:30pm.

In order to provide the best possible service to our customers, all permit documentation including plans stamped 'Accepted' by the City of Abbotsford, site surveys, Engineers' field reviews, etc. must be available on site for the inspection. This will help avoid unnecessary delays in the inspection process.

Schedule Inspection Online

You will need your eight digit permit number (last two digits of the year and followed by the six digit permit number).

In addition to scheduling inspections, you may also:

  • cancel and re-schedule inspections, as long as the inspection is not scheduled for that particular day
  • obtain inspection results
  • leave a message for the Inspector

Section 9.36 B.C.B.C. - Energy Efficiency Requirements For Houses in British Columbia

Effective December 19, 2014 - Applications for building permits must comply with the new requirements for energy efficiency in housing, small commercial and industrial buildings. The new building envelope requirements vary depending on your location. New code requirements are also being added relating to energy efficiency of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment and service water heating (SWH).
