Soil Removal and Deposit

The City of Abbotsford's Soil Removal and Deposit Bylaw No. 1228 - 2003 regulates the movement of soil within the City limits. Anyone wishing to remove or deposit "soil", which is defined as:
  • clay
  • silt
  • sand
  • gravel
  • cobbles
  • boulders
  • peat

Other substances of which is naturally composed, down to and including bedrock, from or onto their property requires a permit from the Engineering Department.

Types of Permits
There are two types of permits, an Annual Renewable and a Temporary. Fees are charged through the Permit process at $0.67 per cubic metre of "soil" removed or deposited. If you are in the ALR you may be required to complete the ALC Application before removing or depositing "soil" from or onto your property.
