
All areas in the City of Abbotsford including rural and urban areas have strict fire
restrictions for open-air burning.
No burning is permitted in urban areas as defined in Agricultural Burning Boundary map.
In accordance with the
City of Abbotsford Fire Service Bylaw, Open-Air Burning of agricultural waste is permitted
only in rural areas when a
burning ban is not in effect from October 1
st to May 31
st.

Burning is only permitted when the
Environment Canada ventilation index is good or fair.

To prevent the release of dangerous toxins,
the following materials must not be burned:
- Asphalt and asphalt products, tar paper
- Carpet, Upholstery
- Chemicals, Fertilizer Bags
- Construction waste, demolition waste (Wiring, Insulation, Drywall)
- Fuel and lubricant containers
- Garbage (including paper waste)
- Industrial waste, Hazardous waste, biomedical waste
- Manure
- Mattresses, Furniture
- paint and paint products
- Painted or Creosote Treated Material (treated lumber, railway ties)
- Petroleum Products
- Plastics, Rubber, Tires
